Are You Serious?!
It seems that each year a handful of people decide that this is going to be their big year and make things happen. What happens is totally the opposite of their resolution; they either stay the same or go backwards. So few understand the power of a declaration vs a resolution. We will start out with the basics of both. You decide which will change your life and run with it. The ball is in your court.
Resolution brought to you by Google- A firm decision to do or not to do something.
Declaration brought to you by Google- A formal or explicit statement or announcement.
Both are short and to the point. However, one is a revolving door and the other is a firm stand still of action. Resolutions sound good but who is seriously going to act on them? Time and time again we here New Years Resolutions. Here generally are the Top 10:
1. Lose Weight
2. Stop Smoking
3. Learn Something New
4. Save Money/Have More Money
5. More Family Time
6. More Travel Time
7. Stop Drinking
8. Get Organized
9. Do To Do List
10. Volunteer
Since I have a passion for helping people become more through fitness it makes sense to talk about weight loss. January-February people are going nuts at the gym thinking they are going to change their life. Then Mid February they get discouraged because their gym doesn’t teach them how to do it, how to maintain it, or how to live it. All of which leads to people signing up for membership to never go and WASTE all their money and have a pointless resolution. So my one and only suggestion for this year is to NEVER make a resolution again but a declaration for your better future, whatever that may be. Set a goal and attain it. More than 80 percent of people never right their goals down and even less that actually attain their goals. Not having a goal is like walking out to an archery field blindfolded, being spun 5 times and shooting. If we don’t have a target that we can see we will never hit the target.
